13th April 10

Dear Doctors,

Greetings ! Eagerly awaited representation against proposed hike in electricity rate to Electricity Regulatory Commission was successfully done on 13th April . KMCH, PSG Hospitals, Ashwin Hospital, GKNM Hospital etc. played a major role in sending nearly 10,000 petitions against the proposed hike, from Coimbatore. Nearly 300 of our fraternity & students from PPG, KMCH, IMA & various hospitals were present personally on 13th April to voice our representation with the TNERC. We have insisted that Health care sector should not be considered as commercial & should give concession on par with Industries. When cinema halls, studios etc who are for entertainment can enjoy the benefits why not Health care professionals, who sacrifice their entertainments etc., for the benefit of the public should not get the benefits. Anyway we have done our best of efforts to represent to the TNERC. It is upto them to realize the fact & act.

This month we have an interesting CME programme on Identifying ‘Skull Base Tumors’ quite early in our clinic. All giddiness is not due to ‘VERTIGO’. Similarly EEG Phenobarbitone & Epsolin alone is not the management for Epilepsy. There are much more in diagnosing and treating Epilepsy. Please don’t miss the opportunity on 18th April evening 6.15 p.m. onwards, when Dr.J.K.B.C. Parthiban and Dr.Dinesh Nayak of Global Hospitals & Health City will be elaborating on this. Dr.S.Nagarajan Pulmonologist will conduct 20-20 pulmonology quiz in the Interesting case of this month session & you may be the winner of the prize.

I take this opportunity to inform that four of our Branch doctors have been selected to deliver various Orations in the forthcoming “ERODIAMOND’ 2010 – Tamil Nadu State IMA Conference at Erode during April 24th, 25th. I request you all to register for the conference in good numbers so that we can show our strength at State level.

With warm regards,

Long live IMA!!         Unity is strength!!                       R.A.K.RAVIKUMAR, MS, FAIS.,
