The Membership of IMA AMS as on 31-12-2008 is 8742. Uttarpradesh & Tamilnadu State Chapters have stood First and Second place in enrollment during 2008.
Workshops: IMA AMS HQs.proposes to organize workshops on various topics of medical interest like Energy Conservation, De Addiction & De-Alcoholism, Sudden Cardiac Death, Heart Failure, Interpretation of Arrhythmias, Interpretation of Normal & Abnormal Angiography, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Preventive Cardiology, Nephrology & Mental Health in States & Branches 
Various Sate Chapters and Branch Chapters are being contracted to conduct State and Branch workshops with special emphasis on the specialist doctors.
AMS Courses: Infertility and ART, Endoscopic Surgery in Gynae, Fluorescein Angiography and Laser Photocoagulation in Retinal, Excismer, Laser & Lasik Surgery, Phacoemulsification, General Surgery of Laparoscopic, Training in Laparoscopic Surgery, Combined Obs. & Gynae, & General, Noninvasive Cardiology, Echocardiography, TMT, etc., Critical Care in Cardiology, Advance Microear Surgery, Functional Endoscopic Sinus, Laser in ENT & Tracho-Bronchial. Rhinoplasty Joint Replacement, Orthoscopic, Spine Surgery.  These courses are recognized by the Academy.
Acknowledge Talent, Expertise: We shall keep up the trend of identifying and felicitating talented members of the profession to promote higher technical advances in the field of medicine.
Doctors day awards: Like previous years, we plan to award the specialists on Doctors Day.
AME Fellowship: The procedure for award of IMA AMS Fellowship is as per schedule. As per previous years, the last date for the receipt of the nominations shall be 15th Nov.2009.

Academic Conferences
During 2008 three Regional Academic Conferences were held at Agra on 31-08-2008 (North Zone) at Pune, on 4th & 5th October 2008 (West Zone) and at Dhanbad on 07-11-2008 (East Zone). The National Conference of IMA AMS-AMSCON 2008 & Convocation were held on 13th & 14th Dec.2008 at Varanasi.

Introduction

IMA AKN Sinha Institute of Continuing Medical & Health Education and Research was established by a resolution of the Central Council of Indian Medical Association with the main objectives of imparting Continuing Medical and Health Education and conducting Research.


Day to day functioning of the Institute is looked after by the Hony. Director and Hony, Executive Secretary with the overall guidance of the President, Hony. Secretary General and the Working Committee of IMA.
Objectives of institute

• To plan and conduct Post Graduate Certificate Courses for Medical Graduates.
• Conduct, encourage & support, research projects in medical field.
• To fulfill the academic needs of the profession by taking steps to make it a deemed university.

IMA AKN Sinha institute of continuing medical education and research was established by a resolution of the Central Council of Indian Medical Association with the main objectives of imparting continuing Medical and Health Education and conducting research.   It conducts  continuing educations Porgramme / courseand research in domain of Medical education and Health education ;  conducts distance learning courses, undertakes the research projects etc.  and to print and publish books ,journals, audio, video cassettes and other materials.   Day to day functioning of the Institute is looked after by the Honorary Director and Honorary Executive Secretary with the over all guidance of the President, General Secretary and working Committee.

IMA COLLEGE OF GENERAL PRACTITIONERS

Announcement & Registration 58th All India Fellowship Examination May 2007 of IMA College of General Practitioners

Considering that the education of a doctor I s a continues process, and to achieve this object the Indian Medical Association decided in the year 1963 to start a College of General Practitioners. This College covers the need of at least 85% of the members of the profession in the country.

So far, the CME needs of the profession were being met by lectures in the branches of the Association and by other academic programmes by Refresher / Orientation Courses. Though some success was achieved by the then methods; the procedure needs to be systematized for maximum benefit to ensure.

For the reason, I.M.A COLLEGE OF GENERAL PRACTITIONERS has established its Faculties / Sub-Faculties all over the country, in each State to carry out the teaching / training programmes as laid down by the College.

The I.M.A COLLEGE OF GENERAL PRACTITIONERS has set up a uniform pattern of refresher activity all over the country and is deriving full cooperation from the medical colleges and other postgraduate institutions. Assistance is also available sometimes from the Union and State Governments on individual programme basis.

The motto of the IMACGP is to make concerted efforts to promote CME activities, allot SELF STUDY CREDIT HOURS, conduct its fellowship Examination (FCGP) and conduct Residency / Vocational Training Programmes in general practice. It has identified National Professors and Teaching Faculties at State level in addition to publication of specific learning material including publishing regularly JOURNAL FAMILY MEDICINE INDIA. The entire teaching / services programmes and based on experience, expertise and improve quality of general practice. Teaching by postal tuition i.e. Correspondence Educational Course is proving very successful particularly for members in distant places. The educational and academic activities conducted by the college have been approved officially by the Medical Council of India in the field of CME for General Practitioners.

The College experts all the 170,000-180,000 general practitioners and GDMO's to fully involve themselves in the various programmes and raise the status and prestige of the now recognized speciality of General Practice.

IMA ACADEMY OF MEDICAL SPECIALITIES

OBJECT

The objects of the IMA Academy of Medical Specialties shall be as given hereunder:

1. To acknowledge talent, expertise and experience in all specialities, medical and surgical, including basic medical sciences;

2. To formulate policies and make suggestions and recommendations in the matter of medical education and training, in particular encouraging continuing educational activities;

3. To promote teaching, training and Continuing Medical Education of its members on an ongoing basis;

4. To devise ways and means to encourage group studies, co-operative activities, research projects in both the methodology of educational techniques and field research into diseases / disease complexes, etc.

5. To compile, educational material, including publication of literature, periodicals, bulletins and books.
